Sun City West Fire Station 101

This was a fourth generation tenant improvement of a working fire station in Sun City West. Maintaining fire operations while reworking every area of the building was quite a challenge. It was resolved by relocating the firefighters and dispatch system to temporary onsite housing. The inside of the station was completely gutted, and new dormitories, restrooms, common spaces, and administrative offices were fitted into the existing space. The floors were ground and the concrete polished to provide a maintenance-free floor, and the kitchen was remodeled to restaurant standards, complete with stainless steel appliances and a commercial stove and hood. The final detail was a makeover of the apparatus bay, which received new door systems, lighting, and vehicle exhaust equipment.
